With just a few days away from race day, the authorities are still trying to get it right for the annual Port Mourant Turf Club one day Horserace meet billed for Sunday December 11 at Port Mourant. Thus a number of changes have been made to the programme which is understood to be the final adjustment.
The numbers of events have gone back to its original seven. However the prize monies remain over $6.5M. The feature event has been reverted to its Original C class classification after being upgraded to B, while one of the C class races has been dropped.
The F and H class races have now been replaced with races for E and G class animals, while most of the prize monies have been increased. The distances for most of the events have also been changed. The list of the event with Classification and First Prize monies and distances are as follows:
The feature event is for C class animals and will be going for a top prize of $1.2M with prize monies totaling over $2.2 and will now be a 1200M down from 1700M.
The Three Year old co-feature event for Guyana and West Indies Bred Horses will see a $600,000 top prize over 1500M. The Two year old open event for Guyana and West Indies Bred Horses over 1000M is for a $500,000 first prize.
The newly made E class event has the first prize winnings set at $500,000 over 1200 meters. The G class race will see the winner getting $400,000 over the 1000M distance.
The ‘I ‘and lower animals will now compete over 1200M for a winners take of $200,000.
While those horses competing in the I3 and lower race also over 1200M has the pole position prize fixed at $150,000.
Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market will take care of accolades for the outstanding performers which includes top Jockey, top stable, top trainer among others. So far over 75 horses have taken entry in what is expected to be an enthralling day of racing.
