Three persons were injured after a small engine boat capsized in the Barama River, yesterday around 09:00hrs.
The injured were identified as Levi Boyan, 41; Sheldon Williams 19; and Lyn Boyan 19, all from Friendship, Pomeroon.
Motley Boyan told Kaieteur News that he was informed about his brother’s accident some time after 09:00 hrs yesterday.
Boyan said that his brother, his niece and Williams had spent the night with him and had left early yesterday morning to continue their journey.
According to the man, his brother does small scale mining in the White Creek area. Boyan said he was told that boat was in the Barama River when it hit a log. He said that the captain tried to control the vessel, but failed and it capsized.
The propeller severely chopped the three persons who were rescued by another passing boat.
Two of the three injured persons were air dashed to the city, while a third was treated at a nearby hospital.
