The Georgetown Cricket Umpires & Scorers Association (GCU&SA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, November 10 at the CCWU hall, Quamina Street, Georgetown. Elections of office bearers were held for the new term 2011/2012 and Grantley Culbard was unanimously re-elected President of the Association for yet another term.
Also re-elected were Secretary Matthew Kissoon and Treasurer Eddie Nicholls. Shannon Crawford, a past secretary, was elected Vice-President. The outgoing vice-president Colin Alfred and public relations officer Linden Matthews did not seek re-election. The full Management Committee elected is:

Hortense Isaacs – Ctte. Member (re-elected)
At the commencement of the meeting, a minute’s silence was observed in memory of the late member Clyde Duncan and others who had fallen during the term under review.
The meeting congratulated Nigel Duguid on his elevation to the ICC Television Panel of Umpires and wished him further success in the future, noting also that he will do umpiring duties in England next year under an exchange programme between the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and its counterpart of England.
Presently, Duguid is doing duties in the West Indies ‘A’ vs. Bangladesh ‘A’ series in the West Indies. The meeting also congratulated Umpires Colin Alfred and Shannon Crawford who stood in this year’s WICB Under-19 Tournament, as well as Umpires Cyril Garnath, Pritipaul George and Matthew Kissoon who did 3rd umpire duties.
The meeting also noted the continued cordial relationship between the GCU&SA and the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) headed by Roger Harper. Praise was given to the GCA for responding positively to the GCU&SA requests by contributing umpires shirts and equipment, and for organizing seminars for scorers.
The Association’s new management committee will meet for the first time on November 24, at 17:00 hours at the CCWU and commence plans for the 2012 season. The Association will close off its activities for this year with a Christmas Party to be held at the GNNL Sports Club on 19 December. A special treat is in store for members, their spouses and friends.
