Kwame ‘Super Sic’ Ridley is fully geared for his first competitive race at the South Dakota Circuit,
announcing yesterday that he will be taking on the rest of the field in the ‘B’ Class Category of the Caribbean Motor Racing (CMR) Championships.
Ridley, who will be competing with a Honda 600 RR Superbike, said that Sunday he will be realising his dream of becoming a Superbike racer when he takes the track at the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T)/Seaboard Marine-sponsored event.
“I have always been a rider on the streets and for a number of years I have been dreaming of competing on the track with the other guys, but I did not have the finance to do so; I have the finance now and I will be going full blast,” Ridley informed.
He said companies such as Giotech, Fab Star, Chetsons Clarks, Nigels Supermarket, Two Js Mining, Oasis Cafe, Stereo Sonics and Professional Key Shop are among the companies that are in his corner for Sunday’s Caribbean CMR Championships.
The confident rider informed that he is not fearful ahead of his first ‘big’ race, and will be going all out to make an impression on the race. He said that his bike’s number, which is 16, means a lot to him because it represents the amount of years he has been awaiting the moment.
“I am looking to be among the top three in the races. I am expecting nothing less of myself and I hope that I will be able to satisfy my expectations. I know I am a rider, I tested my bike at the track and I am happy with the results,” Ridley told Kaieteur News.
‘Super Sic’ is part of a team that includes Carey Griffith in his class among other more exposed riders, but judging from his level of confidence, coupled with sheer seriousness, the intensity of the group could provide adequate excitement at the race meeting.
He said that his team will be there to support him as he looks to make an impression on debut at the South Dakota Circuit. Ridley believes that his mechanics and technicians have created what he called the ‘right machine’ for him to compete on Sunday.
