Shortly before 19:00hrs yesterday, police on the West Bank of Demerara reportedly apprehended a man believed to be the driver who fled an accident scene on Monday night after two lads were injured, one critically, as a result. The suspect was said to be hiding in a house at Parika.
According to reports, sometime around 18:30 hours on Monday, 10 year-old Lawrence Paul and Anthony Lynch were struck down on the Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara Public Road. This publication was told that the driver of the car, instead of rendering assistance, left his vehicle on the scene and disappeared.
The two boys were rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital. Lynch was treated and sent away while Paul has since been transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. He is said to be in a critical condition.
