Wayne Francois was returned as President of the East Bank Football Association (EBFA) following that association’s Annual General Meeting held at the Grove Community Centre yesterday.
Also returned was Vice President Clive Matthews, while taking over the reigns as Treasurer was Ronald Lee-Bing; former Treasurer Noel Harry is now the Assistant Secretary/Treasurer. Withsun Andries will serve as the Organising Secretary, while the Public Relations Officer is Maria King. The position of Secretary is appointed and is currently held by Ms. Icenee Inniss.
Francois in brief remarks thanked the clubs for their support while promising to work for the continued development of the sport on the East Bank. He lauded the efforts of the clubs in making time to play despite the many challenges they are faced given the geographic layout of the association.
Francois also offered congratulations to Kuru Kururu Warriors and Timehri Panthers for being invited to play in the 22nd edition of the annual Kashif & Shanghai football tournament noting that this was a first for the East Bank where two teams have been invited.
Grove Hi Tec, another team from the association, is the first of two teams in terms of priority that is on standby.
GFF President (ag) Franklin Wilson, who performed duties as Returning Officer, congratulated the new executive for accepting the nominations of the clubs to serve for another two years. He encouraged the executive to be all inclusive in their approach, cautioning the executive members that they would have been elected to serve the East Bank as a whole and not individual clubs.
He challenged the new body to take up the GFF’s offer of training programmes for the development of referees, coaches and administrators in order to ensure the association functions in a proper and cohesive manner.
The clubs present were also encouraged to hold the association accountable for the effective administration of the association, while at the same time ensuring that they themselves {clubs} strive to ensure that they also function effectively.
The association is currently running the Banks DIH sponsored Coca Cola Premier League for senior teams.
