Come Wednesday all speculation will be put to rest as a post mortem is expected to be done on the remains of Lloyd Mc Kend and his reputed wife Roshena Smith who died in an accident last Friday night.
This publication was told that some family members are suggesting that the couple may have been hit from behind by a vehicle which sent them crashing into a utility pole at Houston, East Bank Demerara.
According to a source close to the family, the damages on the motorcycle do not correspond with a head-on crash.
In addition, relatives of both Mc Kend and Smith are calling for a thorough investigation into the incident. While relatives said they are not quite satisfied with the report, they are awaiting the results of the post mortem examination which should be able to tell if the injuries both parties sustained are consistent with a head on collision with the utility pole.
Also the mother of the dead man, Grace Mc Kend who spoke with this publication yesterday said her family is still in a state of shock , while her husband, who was overseas, only returned home sometime on Saturday night.
As both the Mc Kends and the Smiths continue to grieve, they are yet to decide on what is next for the couple’s two year old son.
“My husband only came into the country a few hours ago. We have not yet been able to sit and work things out as yet, but that is something that will have to be carefully thought out,” the grieving Mrs. Mc Kend said.
She further noted that her son has been riding his motorcycle from Uitvlugt to Georgetown every day for more than two years and he was always extra careful. She explained that at times the couple would also have their son with them on the motorcycle. Fortunately on the dreadful night the child was safe at home.
“They would take him with them sometimes on the motorcycle because he goes to a day care in Georgetown and sometime he would not come home with them.”
On Friday night last, 24 year-old Lloyd Mc Kend and 23 year-old Roshena Smith were pronounced dead at the Georgetown Public Hospital after crashing on their motorcycle.
According to a police report, the couple was riding along the Houston East Bank Demerara Public Road when Mc Kend lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a utility pole.
Mc Kend was employed at Bounty Meat Centre while Henry worked at Survival Supermarket.
The victims were heading home when the tragedy occurred.
