Today, a crucial match will be played between Guyana’s Lady Jags and Dominican Republic’s team at Uitvlugt Community Centre ground from 3PM with Anguilla and Antigua and Barbuda battling to settle for third position in Group D of the Powerade sponsored CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Qualifier from 1PM.
Both Anguilla and Antigua and Barbuda were mauled by the Lady Jags and Dominican Republic in the previous matches that were held last Wednesday and Friday at the same venue.
In an invited comment at the Kings Plaza Hotel, Manager of the Guyana team, Colin Baker told Kaieteur Sport that Guyana will be aiming to win their final match which will be against Dominican Republic and hopes that there will be good weather.
Guyana’s main objective, which is wining this group, will be significant once play goes in their favour. Despite Guyana and Dominican Republic capturing two games apiece, it must be noted that Guyana is not in the lead as it relates to the amount of goals made for the qualifier.
Once Guyana win, of which they are confident of executing in today’s game, Guyana will top the group but if there’s a draw between the two teams, automatically Dominican Republic will become the victor of the Group World Cup Qualifiers.
Guyana’s charge will be led by forward player Otesha Charles, who has already cataloged four goals, Ashlee Savona and Kailey Leila, who played key roles in Guyana clawing Anguilla 5-0.
The two top teams from this group will be joining Trinidad and Tobago, Cayman Islands, Jamaica and Cuba in the second round of the qualifiers which is slated for December.
