Diligent work by police on Tuesday evening led to the arrest of a man who is believed to have been a part of a robbery gang.
According to police reports, around 19:35 hours on Tuesday, businessman Rohan Bisnauth and a sales clerk, Christina Ashram, 19, were attacked and robbed by three men who entered their grocery shop, at Goed Intent, West Bank Demerara.
The police stated that one of the men was armed with a gun.
The victims were held up, and Christina Ashram was assaulted about the body. The cash was taken away by the perpetrators who escaped with some $220,000 in a waiting motor vehicle.
The matter was immediately reported to the police and quick response led to the arrest of the driver of the getaway vehicle at Success, East Coast Demerara.
Up to press time yesterday the man was in police custody assisting with investigation.
