The police are currently hunting a lone gunman who robbed several persons at the Home Depot Store at Ruimveldt on Friday.
Kaieteur News was told that the gunman walked into the store around 13:30 hrs and quickly demanded that the customers and workers hand over their valuables.
One such customer was Pipamdar Debi, who was robbed of $2.6M. According to the man he was at the store purchasing floor tiles when the incident happened.
Debi told Kaieteur News that several other customers had to hand over their belongings in a bag.
The bandit then made his way to Debi, who handed over his money. “I hand over the money ….and he kicked me,” Debi told Kaieteur News.
According to the man other businessmen and contractors who were in the store were also relieved of their valuables.
Debi further told Kaieteur News that the bandit then walked up to the cashier and demanded that she hand over monies from the store. The cashier complied and handed over the money and the bandit made good his escape.
The matter was reported to the police and they are currently investigating.
