Guyanese right-handed opener Rajendra Chandrika hit a sparkling 114 to lead the Sagicor HPC team to an 86-run win against Afghanistan in their 50-over clash at the ICC Global Cricket Academy at Dubai Sports City yesterday.
Chandrika, a stylish stroke maker from Enterprise on the East Coast of Demerara, got support from Shamarh Brooks (36), Keron Cottoy (31*) and wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich (23) as the HPC side reached 257-9 off 50 overs after they were invited to bat first.
Leg-spinners Cottoy and Brooks then took four wickets apiece for the young West Indies as Afghanistan fell for 171 in 47.5 overs despite 53 from Asghar Stanikz.
