On Wednesday evening at 22:00 hrs at Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara ranks from the ‘D’ Division Community Policing group (CPG) discovered a bag with a quantity of marijuana hidden between a clump of bushes.
According to a source, some of the CPG members were in the area when they spotted a man who ‘looked suspicious’, as they were passing him in their vehicle.
Their suspicion aroused, the men turned around their vehicle in search of the man, who quickly made good his escape through a nearby alleyway.
Kaieteur News understands that when the men exited the vehicle in pursuit of the man, they came across a plastic bag lying near the bushes on the road, and upon examination the substance appeared to be marijuana.
The men immediately took the plastic bag with the substance to the nearby Leonora Police Station, where the substance was examined and confirmed to be marijuana.
The source explained that either the man who mysteriously disappeared was there to deliver the substance or to ‘put it on the market’.
