Dear Editor,
After reading a letter entitled “Bisram did conduct surveys in Guyana” in the Stabroek News August 19, 2011 edition. I have to endorse what the author Mike Persaud is articulating. Mr. Persaud (no relation to me) has reinforced the point that as long as Indians fear the PNC they will continue to vote for the PPP. Therefore the reason we are in this quagmire is because the PNC has refused to show remorse or even apologize for the atrocities committed against Indians in Guyana in the 80’s.
Simply put, as long as the PNC exists no other party or consortium can beat the PPP. The Indian doesn’t necessarily vote PPP because he hates any other race; he votes PPP because he is afraid of the PNC.
There are deep physiological scars in the subconscious mind of every Indian. A paralyzing fear of returning the PNC into power. Until the PNC seriously reforms itself starting with a name change and not the superficial changes they have been undergoing the PPP will continue to win, and that is the reality. I urge everyone to read Mike Persaud’s letter. R. Persaud
