Bollywood superstar Shilpa Shetty arrived in Guyana yesterday ahead of this evening’s Jamzone Bollywood Concert.
Speaking at a press conference at the Princess Hotel, Shilpa said it was a “huge compliment” for her to be the star for the first-ever Bollywood Night on the Jamzone calendar. She said it was heartwarming that people in Guyana love Hindi films and its song and dances, and left her performance a tight secret.
Shilpa is the main act for the Bollywood Concert which will feature other singers and dancers, including the energetic Karma Band and Shiv Shakti Dancers out of Trinidad. The local Apsara Dance Group completes the line-up.
Shilpa Shetty is one of the world’s most popular Indian film actresses and models, and has appeared in over 40 Bollywood, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada Films. Her riveting performances in movies such as Dhadkan (2000) and her portrayal of an AIDS patient in Phir Milenge (2004) have won her many accolades and positive reviews globally.
In 2006, Shilpa proved her additional talents after winning the British Celebrity Big Brother TV Show; a contest which involves no more than 15 participants who live together in a house isolated from the world, each playing to avoid evictions for a cash prize.
