Black fires back by threatening law suit
The Berbice Cricket Board at a regular convened Ordinary General Meeting, which was held on Sunday at the Board’s Charlotte Street office in New Amsterdam, took a unanimous decision to discard the service of its controversial First Vice President David Black for bringing the BCB into disrepute.
Black, who is also the president of the West Berbice Cricket Board, was booted out of Office after he participated in the recently held Guyana Cricket Board’s controversial Annual General Meeting against the wishes of the BCB although it was decided by the BCB that it will not be a part of the GCB AGM. It was also noted that Black also hired a vehicle and carried assistant Secretary Carol Nurse and non members to the meeting. Black who was present at the meeting had all opportunity to defend himself. Carol Nurse was absent from the meeting. She is also expected to give an account of her actions.
Apart from losing his portfolio as First Vice president, he is also not authorised to transact any business on behalf of the board. He was booted out of office by a majority vote of 17-3 with four abstentions.
The three persons that voted against the motion are from the West Berbice Association. The BCB is made up of three Association and 13 clubs, each association was entitled to three members while the clubs are entitled to two.
Black, who had threatened to fight every action of the board, has since fired back by serving a summons on members of the executives of the BCB, threatening them with court action and giving them 24 hours, if the board does not apologize and or withdraw letters sent out informing customers of the board that Black in no longer authorized to do business on behalf of the Board.
Black through his attorney has also threatened the board with legal action if he is removed from office, since he sees the effort of the board as being illegal.
