Bakewell Nationwide Male/Female Softball Begins August 28

Flick Bowling is back

Bakery giant, Bakewell of 5-9 Drive, Dr. Miller St., Triumph, East Coast Demerara has joined forces with the Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) in sponsoring the next nationwide male/female softball cricket tournament.
Games are set to start on August 28 throughout the country and will be played in three categories, Male Open (15/15), Male Over-40 years old (25/25) and Female Open (10/10).

The tournament’s opening match will be played next Sunday August 21 at the Albion Sports Complex between popular Demerara team Floodlights and Albion Masters.
Last Monday, executive members of GFSCA met with Mr. Naim Nasser and Rajindranauth Ganga of Bakewell at their boardroom in Triumph and had valuable discussions about softball and other related charitable matters. Prestige distributors, Ritual Coffee House and Roti Hut are all businesses associated with Bakewell.
All three softball finals are set for November 27. Prizes for all three categories are: Winners- $75,000 + trophy, Runners-up- $25,000 + trophy. Player of the Match in finals and Player of the series will each receive $10,000 + trophy. Yellow Supreme balls with the marking “Floodlight” must be used only for the Bakewell Softball Tournament.
Round arm and flick bowling will be allowed. The GSFCA is gearing up for an International Softball Tournament on October 28, 29, and 30, where any under arm bowling will be eligible. The tournament will be called the “Guyana Cup Open” and “Guyana Cup Masters”. Teams from New York, Schenectady, South Florida, Orlando, Canada and Trinidad are expected to be here to do battle against several top Guyana Softball teams.
