There seems to be a new trend as yet another family was attacked and robbed upon arrival at their home after leaving the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
According to a police report, sometime around 03:00 hours yesterday Dawn Lyken-Segasebe, 44, Colette Lyken, 45, and overseas-based Guyanese Kevin Lyken, 27, were attacked and robbed by three men armed with handguns.
The incident occurred at Granville Park, LBI, East Coast Demerara.
The police said that the persons were about to enter their premises when a motor car drove up and the three perpetrators exited and held them up. The men took away a quantity of jewellery, a laptop computer, three cell phones, a Sony camera, and $240,000 in cash, after which they escaped.
Only Saturday, last, 28-year-old Prem Persaud of the United States and his cousin Satrohan Persaud were attacked just as they arrived at the home of a relative at Middle Road, La Penitence.
Prem Persaud had only arrived in the country an hour prior to the incident and was about to enter his relatives’ home when he and his cousin were attacked by three armed men. Prem Persaud was shot in the neck while his cousin was shot in the leg.
Both men were treated and sent away from a city hospital.
