Trinidad and Tobago defeated Windward Islands by 8 wickets yesterday at the Guyana National Stadium on the final day in the second round of the U-19 three day cricket tournament to secure their first victory.
Beginning the final day of the tournament following on in their second innings, the Windward Islands were 59-4 replying to Trinidad and Tobago’s 271 after they were dismissed for 121 in their first innings. They were eventually dismissed for 159 in their second.
Keon George made just above double figures, scoring 11 runs, as Ronald Jordon was Leg Before Wicket for 21 off Jovan Ali as Windward Islands score remained at 87-6. Hitting one 6 was Dwight Thomas (19) as he was dismiss by Idress Mohammed taking the score to 106-7.
Hollis Blair scored only 1 and was caught by Isaiah Rajah off Derone Davis as Mohammed dismissed another batsman, bowling Bronte Bess who lashed 2 fours in his 17. Shaquille Browne (14) was not out as the last wicket was captured by Ali to leave Windward Islands at 159 which included 11 extras.
Trinidad and Tobago batting for the second time in this round, had to score 10, but lost two wickets in the process as they struggled to make the target in 4.4 overs. Ray Jordon and Bronte Bess captured 1 wicket a piece as they dismissed Christian Herrera (2) and Kerion Joseph (0) respectively as the game was over at 14:12hrs.
