The Cemetery Road and Norton Street junction was the scene of yet another accident that left passengers of minibus BMM 9403 being rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for injuries they sustained, yesterday.
The collision occurred approximately at 14:30 hrs after route 47 minibus, BMM 9403 collided with pick-up GNN 1016.
Three persons, including the driver of the minibus, were taken to the GPHC.
Residents in the area said that the minibus which was in the wrong zone was speeding while heading west on Norton Street with a load of passengers. The pick-up GNN 1016 which was heading south on cemetery road then collided with the minibus.
“Both of them driving them vehicles look like they were drinking,” one resident said.
According to Sheldon Anthony who was the conductor in the minibus, the driver of the minibus had the right of way on Norton Street when suddenly the pickup jumped the intersection at Cemetery Road and caused the collision.
However, the blamed game was being shared. The police arrived at the scene and subsequently removed the vehicles to the Brickdam Police Station.
