Police Veterans’ Table Tennis Tournament on Today
The Guyana Police Force-sponsored Veterans’ Table Tennis Tournament returns today to the National Gymnasium masters will compete in three categories to determine who among them rank among the leaders of this new age.
The masters will compete in Over-45, Over-50 and Over-55 categories with Lindener, Raynor ‘Copter’ Anderson, Patrick Triumph and Xen Goliah expected to be among the forces to reckon with today in what is expected to be a heated battle.
Up to Kaieteur Sport press time, we could not have ascertained whether Donald Duff, who took away the Lion’s share of the prizes last year, will be competing. But if he does, the competition will be even keener since the masters had a year to practice.
The event will be three-fold with Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), which sanctioned the masters’ competition, holding finals in all the remaining categories of the National Sports Commission’s Annual Independence tournament at the same venue.
In addition, it was disclosed that the upcoming Caribbean Table Tennis Championships will be officially launched, making the National Gymnasium the centre of table tennis activity on July 4, the day when the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) also celebrates.
