Most of the outstanding players from the recently concluded Mayor’s Cup Football tournament have been rewarded by being named to the Mayor’s Cup All Star team that will tour Suriname for a Goodwill tournament on June 9 and 11.
Pele players dominate the 21-man squad which will also travel with five officials and depart Guyana by Ferry from Molsen Creek on June 8 and travel by road to Paramaribo before retuning from the Dutch nation on June 12.
The Guyanese will open their tour with a match against the Suriname ‘A’ team under lights from 21:00hrs on June 9 at the Essed Stadium after the Suriname ‘A’ side battle a French Guiana unit from 19:00hrs.
After a rest day, the action continues with another double header at the same venue when the two first-day losers match skills from 19:00hrs before the Championship match is played from 21:00hrs.
The tour is an opportunity to provide exposure to the players and the Suriname Football Association will be responsible for the team’s accommodation, meals and in-land transportation.
The team includes six Pele players, three each from Alpha, GDF and Western Tigers, two from Camptown and Santos and one each from Conquerors and Riddim Squad and will be managed by English Parris and Coached by former National Gordon Braithwaite.
The Guyanese unit is expected to be spearheaded by the Western Tigers pair of Nedd Fraser and Sherman David along with the Santos duo of Shemroy Arthur and William Europe.
The squad read:- Dorville Steward, Sheldon Sheppard, Rishawn Sandiford, Quincy Madramootoo, Ritchie Richards, Keon Sears, Derwyn Fraser, Hubert Pedro, Shemroy Arthur, William Europe, Sherman David, Nedd Fraser, Vashile Cantzlaar, Colin Nelson, Quincy Adams, Marvin Joseph, Sheldon Holder, Kerwin Benjamin, Daniel Wilson, Trevon Lythcott.
The officials are:- English Parris (Manager), Andre Daziell (Asst Manager), Gordon Braithwaite (Coach), Dhyan Carter (Equipment Manager), Lennox Arthur (Executive Coordinator)
