The May session of the Essequibo Assizes opened with a parade featuring ranks from ‘G’ Division. Justice Franklin Holder took the salute.
The parade, which was witnessed, by pre-school children and spectators, was lead by deputy head of ‘G’ Division, Drin Simon.
Commander of the Division, Brain Joseph, stood with the judge during the march past. Six of the cases are for murder and four for manslaughters. There are also two rape cases and one case of indecent assault.
Murder accused Kenny Arthur Grant is already having his day in court. Grant of Dartmouth Village, Essequibo Coast, is on trial for the murder of Cecil Benn, on September 6, 2000.
