Retired Major General Norman McLean was elected unopposed as the new President of the Guyana Association of Private Security Organizations (GAPSO) when the body recently held its Annual General Meeting.
McLean replaces outgoing President Lt Colonel Gregory Gaskin of Cops Guyana Ltd. Gaskin had held the position for three consecutive terms from 2008 to 2011.
Major General McLean is a former Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force, and has been the Human Resource Manager of Omai Gold Mines for a number of years. He has also served at varying times as the President of the Guyana Manufacturers Association and also as President of the Guyana Gold Miners Association.
The new management committee of GAPSO includes its new President along with Lt Colonel Randy Storm of Banks DIH as Secretary, Mr. Clyde Layne of Neal and Massy Security Solutions as Treasurer, and Mr. Dougal Kirkpatrick of Professional Guard Service as committee member.
