The respective winners of prizes in the recently concluded Mayor’s Cup football tournament will receive their prizes on Thursday in the office of Mayor Hamilton Green at City Hall during a small ceremony starting at 11:30hrs.
Coordinator Lennox Arthur conformed that the teams and outstanding players will receive their rewards after their hard work in a competitive tournament.
Camptown won the championship, beating Fruta Conquerors in the final and will collect the $1M first prize sponsored by President Bharrat Jagdeo. The President Office confirmed that the money will be handed over to the Mayor’s Cup organisers in time to be given to Camptown.
Conquerors will walk with $500,000 compliments of Body max Gym, while Pele, who defeated Alpha in the third place game, will claim the $200,000 third prize, while Alpha will claim $100,000. All the teams will collect trophies, with Camptown claiming the Mayor’s Cup.
On the individual honours list, Nigel Codrington of Camptown will collect the Jailing motorcycle from that company for winning the MVP award for leading his team to championship honours. Mervin Joseph was the highest goalscorer and will receive a TV from Keishar’s, while the most improved U19 player is Conquerors Joshua Brown who will collect a three piece suite from AH&L Kissoon.
