Sans Souci and Maria’s Pleasure recorded victories as the Mohamed Mc Bill Memorial twenty/20 cricket competition commenced last Sunday in Wakenaam.
In the first match at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground, Sans Souci defeated Sans Souci Jaguars by 43 runs.
Sans Souci batted first and posted 156-6 off their 20 overs. Essequibo U-19 allrounder Seon Venture stroked 43 (2×4,4×6) and Satnarine Sahadeo supported with 26 (2×6), while Dillon Osborne captured 3-25, former Essequibo U-15 left arm spinner Moin Khan 2-30 and Tamesh Charritar 2-18.
Sans Souci Jaguars in their turn at the crease were bowled out for 113 in exactly 20 overs. Former Essequibo U-15 batsman Zameer Zamaan made 23 and Rashaad Rasheed 22 as medium pacers Derwin Daniels and Venture grabbed 4-22 and 2-20 respectively for the victors.
In the second game at the said venue, Maria’s Pleasure got past Noitgedacht by 3 wickets.
Noitgedacht took first strike and were skittled out for 74 in 11 overs. Richard Lewis was the only batsman that offered resistance with 25, offspinner Kennard Lewis bagged 5-20 and Marsh Singh 2-24 for Maria’s Pleasure who responded with 75-7 in 15 overs. Lewis returned to hit 26, while former national U-15 pacers Hassan Mohamed captured 5-15 and Neil Ramalho, who opted to bowl off spin, took 2-18.
