Shivindra Hemraj and Devin George slammed contrasting half centuries as the Igloo Ice Cream U-15 50 over cricket competition continued recently in Essequibo with matches in zone A and B.
In zone A at Parika Salem, the home team went down to Leguan by 42 runs. Leguan batted first and managed 197-9 after the game was reduced to 40 overs. Shivindra Hemraj made 65 (2×4), while Paul Williams scored 37 (2×4, 2×6) and Paul Debideen 26 (2×4). Left arm spinner Asif Osman took 3-33.
East Bank Essequibo in reply were bowled out for 155 in 38 overs. Travis Drakes led with 49 (2×4,1×6) and Kemal Savory supported with 41 (2×4) as Taran Hardeo 3-13, Paul Simbu 3-52 and Paul Williams 2-18 did the damage for Leguan.
At the Wakenaam Community Centre ground, Bartica overcame the home team by 2 wickets. Wakenaam took first strike and mustered 140 all out in 35 overs. Latchman Dindyal top scored with 31 (4×4), while Yogeshwar Hansraj made 15 and Alex Stephen 13. Extras contributed a healthy 36 as Andrew Simmons bagged 5-31, Pimario Lake 2-11 and Guy Lovert 2-18 for Bartica who replied with 141-8 in 42 overs. Renaldo Rene made an unbeaten 49 which included six fours, while Dinesh Persaud took 4-17 for the host.
In zone B, North Essequibo got the better of Pomeroon by 60 runs, and South defeated Central Essequibo by 41 runs.
Scores: At Anna Regina, North E’bo 151 all out in 42 overs (Devon George 52, Kevin Warner 38, Andy Stoll 3-25, Avinash Persaud 3-26. Pomeroon 91 in 37 overs (Omvindio Persaud 28, Siddiq Mohamed 4-12, Kaisho Rooplall 3-25).
At Cotton Field, South E’bo 142 all out in 42 overs (Ricardo Peters 43, Parmesh Parasatam 3-21). Central E’bo 91 in 32 overs (Christopher Bacchus 32, Keon Davis 2-18, Yugesh Narine 2-13, Hemant Doechan 3-15).
North Essequibo recorded victories in the first round of matches which was played last Sunday.
Scores: Zone A, At Enterprise in Leguan, Wakenaam beat the host by 1 wicket.
Leguan 167 all out in 32 overs, Sunil Persaud 48, Taran Hardeo 38, Ghansham Somwaru 4-22, Jumal Hartman 2-18, Lokram Narine 2-20. Wakenaam 172-9 in 39 overs. (Kemo Paul 53, Dinesh Persaud 29, Lokram Narine 22, Taran Hardeo 3-34, Paul Simbu 3-38).
At Parika Salem, Bartica beat East Bank Essequibo by 4 wickets. EBE 161 all out in 33 overs (Renaldo Reddy 37, Travis Drakes 30, Kemal Savory 26, Omario Lake 2-18, Safar Khan 2-25, Guy Lovert 2-12) Bartica 163-6 in 30 overs. (O. Lake 25, S, Khan 21, Andrew Simmons 21, Keron Montague 3-29, K. Savory 2-45).
At Anna Regina, North overcame South Essequibo by 45 runs. North E’bo 184-6 in 40 overs. (Siddiq Mohamed 42, Shaquille Rigby 30, Remindra Persaud 24, Keon Davis 3-22). South E’bo 139 all out in 37 overs (Ricardo Peters 28, Remindra Persaud 4-20, S. Mohamed 2-25, Avinash Persaud 2-27.
