The Essequibo Cricket Board on Sunday last held an appreciation ceremony to honour its national selectee Ronsford Beaton at the Anna Regina hostel.
Beaton, who played for the national senior team in the recently concluded regional first class championship, is one of the three Guyanese to be selected on the West Indies U-19 team to tour Dubai.
He was presented with a pair of cricket shoes and was given a monetary incentive.
Beaton a lively fast bowler who plays for Central Essequibo thanked the board for their support and promised to grab the opportunity with both hands in his quest to reach the top.
Imam Baksh encouraged Beaton to give his best on the field and be a good ambassador for Guyana, while president of the Central Essequibo Cricket Committee Otto Christiani and ECB head Sheik Ahmad also made presentations.
PRO Nazeer Mohamed, who chaired the ceremony, told Kaieteur sport that the board is proud of Beatons’s achievement and said it will motivate other players to take the game seriously and continue training hard.
