One week after a minibus driver struck down Christina Melville on a pedestrian crossing, relatives of the injured schoolgirl are still waiting for the perpetrator to show some form of concern for the little girl.
When Kaieteur News spoke to Christina’s family yesterday at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, they said that police have still not yet collected a statement from her.
One relative said that the female driver promised to visit Christina yet she has not gone to the hospital in the past week since the incident occurred.
“The police ain’t come to take no statement yet from Christina and the woman get loose on $50,000 bail before the girl medical get sent from the hospital…that is not fair or right…”
Kaieteur News understands that Christina will be hospitalized for a long period of time since she suffered serious injuries on her right leg.
It was reported that Melville, who is currently admitted in the Children’s Ward, was standing in front of the pedestrian crossing located on the road outside of her school compound on last week Monday at 08:00 hrs when a speeding route 40 minibus struck her.
The Melville family and the teachers of Saint Paul’s Primary are hoping that the police force will ensure that justice will prevail in Christina’s favour.
