But the chase ended with police arresting the suspect on the Bridge and impounding his car at the Providence Police Station.
The motorcyclist, identified as Carlton Fraser, miraculously escaped with minor injuries. He was being treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Eyewitnesses recalled seeing the grey Starlet, PHH 1328, heading south at a fast rate on the East Bank Demerara public road.
An eyewitness said that the driver of the Starlet ‘clipped’ a taxi and another car in the vicinity of the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
He said that the driver then suddenly swerved to the right and slammed into a motorcyclist who had just come over the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
The eyewitness said that instead of stopping, the culprit drove past the toll booth on the eastern section of the bridge and headed to the other side.
However, police were alerted and managed to apprehend the suspect.
He was then placed in a police vehicle and taken to the Ruimveldt Police Station, while Fraser, the injured motorcyclist, was rushed to the GPHC. Sources said that he was conscious and his injuries did not appear to be serious.
The Starlet, and the badly damaged motorcycle, were impounded at Providence.
