After being diagnosed with a cancerous tumour on his left cheek, Ramnarine Singh, 40, of 89 Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara is seeking financial assistance from the public to aid in the payment for therapy that could save his life.
According to the man’s reputed wife, Sherron Harridat, her husband who was a security guard, suddenly experienced a swelling in his left jaw and decided to visit the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was diagnosed with cancer.
She said that after several tests were done at various private hospitals to confirm the diagnosis “from October 21 to date he underwent four surgeries because of the rapid growing disease.”
Harridat, who works as a food vendor, said that she also has four children to maintain and there is a major pressure on her to maintain the household while assisting Singh.
“He needs $400,000 to pay for laser therapy, but we need help to get that amount.” She lamented. However, the Ministry of Health told her that they would assist with a partial sum in order to assist Singh.
She further disclosed that her husband is currently awaiting a specialist from the cancer institute to visit Guyana this month.
A document which the family presented, revealed that Ramnarine Singh “was referred from the Maxillofacial Clinic on October 15, last with a tumour on the left side of his cheek, nose block and bleeding from his left side nose for the last two months…Now the patient is in need of post operative radiotherapy for any recurrent malignant tissue.”
Anyone willing to assist in making a financial donation can do so in account # 218-577-305 at Citizen Bank or contact can be made with the family at 678-4803 or 684-3067.
