….$403M above engineer’s estimate
The construction of a building to serve as a Forensic Laboratory for the Government, through the Ministry of Home Affairs, has attracted several bids almost double that of the government engineer’s estimate of $478,487,762.
The bids were opened yesterday at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board located at the Ministry of Finance.
This project is for the construction of an 5,817 square feet, two-storey (reinforced concrete) edifice.

There were also bids opened for the extension of the western section of the building of the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, as well as for the remodeling of the enclosed office for cubicle desks.
The government engineer’s estimate for this project is $23,889,305 and the bids submitted were:
Some of the other projects for which bids were opened were for the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, for the supply of services such as that of the maintenance of a Perkins Generator, the provision of pest control and termite treatment services, sanitact disposal services and the maintenance of air condition units, among others.
