National junior cyclist, Neil Reece on Sunday chalked up another victory in the cycling arena when he rode away with the Phillip Arokium memorial 40 miles cycle road race organized by the Flying Aces Cycling club of Berbice and sponsored by the Arokium Family. Reece in his supremacy won both the open and junior categories.
The race which started at the Arokium Funeral Parlor at Main and Philadelphia Street in New Amsterdam, proceeded to Adventure Village on Corentyne before turning back to finish at Main and Alexander streets, New Amsterdam, saw Reece completing the distance in a time of one hour, 47 minutes.
In second position was Dellon Ross followed by Nashane Jaundoo third, Wazim Hasnoo fourth with Ray Millington and Keith Griffith being the other placers in the top six..
Nashane Jaundoo was the second to finish in the junior category with Ray Millington third.
In the juvenile category Juban Crawford was the first across the finishing line and he was followed by Elijah Bajadder and Victor Henry in that order.
In the female category national female rider Marica Dick was too good for her opponents as she rode in first ahead of Roxanne Waddell.
Of the ten prime point prizes up for grabs Reece rode away with seven while there one apiece for Ross, Hasnoo and Jaundoo.
At the presentation ceremony which followed, the respective winners were presented with their prizes by members of the Arokium family.
Mrs. Pearl Arokium speaking on behalf of the Arokium family thanked the participants for competing in the event; she also congratulated the riders and encouraged them to continue their training. She informed those gathered that the Arokium family was very pleased to be associated with the event and promised to make it an annual affair.
Coordinator and cycling coach Randolph Roberts thanked the Arokium family on behalf of the club for coming on board and supporting cycling.
