A week has passed and police are still to decide if charges will be instituted against businessman Eddie Boyer for his alleged physical assault of Kaieteur News columnist, Freddie Kissoon.
Police have already taken detailed statements from both Kissoon and Boyer as well as a few eyewitnesses, and have prepared a report which they said was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
But many are questioning why a simple assault allegation would have to engage the DPP before decisive action is taken.
Kissoon is alleging that, a week ago, he came under physical attack, allegedly by the proprietor of the National Hardware Limited, Eddie Boyer.
However, Boyer has vehemently denied the allegation but was placed on self bail after he was invited to the Ruimveldt Police Station, immediately after the alleged incident.
At the time of the alleged incident, Kissoon was in one of Boyer’s stores at Industrial Site, Ruimveldt, making a purchase.
