Belles toll, top Men’s U-21 final group
– secure first national title in Guyana

Guyana’s United States of America-based table tennis players, twins, Brad and Brandon Belle played their way into form after a slow start last weekend to top the Men’s Under-21 category in the ongoing National Table Tennis Championships.
In the final round of the competition, Brad Belle defeated Joel Alleyne 11-9, 4-11, 11-9 and 11-5 while Brandon Belle dropped his only game in the playoff to Nigel Bryan 11-5, 7-11, 9-11 and 3-11 before the final placing were announced yesterday.
Alleyne had beaten Bryan 11-8, 6-11, 7-11, 13-11 and 11-9 before Brandon Belle hammered the U-18 Men’s Singles Champion, Bryan 11-7, 11-8 and 11-8 in the second round of the event that used the round-robin format to establish the final placement.
Brandon also defeated Alleyne 9-11, 11-7, 6-11, 11-8 and 11-9 on his way to winning his first national title in Guyana. His brother, Brad placed second while Alleyne finished third as Bryan had a disappointing outing in the U-21 championship.
Bryan had topped his group that included Elishaba Johnson and Sherwin Sahadeo while Alleyne led his group that included Kyle Edghill and Alston Edwards. The Belles also topped their group to establish the final four for the last round playoffs.
