Dear Editor,
We’re happy that the Sunday Kaieteur News of November 21 publicized the rally against domestic violence planned for next Thursday (“Red Thread, other organisations to host domestic violence rally”).
But we can’t take credit for other women’s initiatives and work. We are not hosts of the rally; rather, the hosts are the Irene Madray Recreational Arts and Resources Centre (IMRARC), Kids First Fund and we believe, Kaieteur News columnist Stella Ramsaroop. Red Thread is supporting the rally and calls on all who understand that laws are not enough to take part; understanding that what is needed is that all of us refuse to tolerate domestic violence (and other forms of violence against the vulnerable) no matter who the perpetrators are.
Join the rally to “Break the Silence, Stop the Violence”, Thursday November 25, 2010, 1pm, Bourda Cricket Ground, Georgetown.
