Travis Blyden stroked 10 fours and 3 sixes his first century in seven games for the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) to help his new team beat Everest by an innings and 9 runs in their second division GCA Noble House Seafood 2-day cricket match at the University of Guyana ground.
GDF won the toss and elected to bat on a pitch with some moisture and a heavy out field and led by Blyden’s magnificent century declared at 233-4.
Marcus Watkins hammered 10 fours and a six in an attacking 85 while former national youth player Jeremiah Harris made 21 for the Army to follow up Blyden’s ton.
When Everest batted they were bowled out for 123 despite 26 from Noand Ramdeen and 23 from Chris Ronatt. Ceon Noble had 2-17, Harris 2-25 and West Demerara medium pacer Ameer Khan 2-30 and Blyden 2-2 for GDF.
Everest were asked to follow-on and were bowled out for 101 with Ramdeen making 26 and Terrance Narine 21.
Khan snatched 5-12 while left-arm spinner Dennis Legay took 3-9 and Harris 2-19 to bowl the soldiers to an emphatic victory.
