LBI ‘A’ team and Buxton ‘A’ were among the winners of matches in the opening round of the Rockaway Auto Sales sponsored East Coast Cricket Board organised Premier League competition involving the top eight teams in the area in a round robin format.
In the between LBI ‘A’ and Better Hope, Better Hope won Toss and elected to bat and scored 189 for 9 off 35 overs. Imran Khan – 80 not out led the batting. Bowling for LBI ‘A’ – Javed Campbell took 4 for 29 off 6 overs.
LBI ‘A’ in reply reached 192 for 7 off 33.2 overs to win the match. Yogeshwar Bishun led them with 60 not out. Bowling for Better Hope – Ravi Singh took 3 for 16 off 7 overs.
And Enterprise ‘A’ lost to Buxton ‘A’. Enterprise won toss and elected to field as Buxton ‘A’ scored 249 all out 39.1 overs. Rawlie Fredricks – 150 not out with 6, and 11 fours.
Bowling for Enterprise ‘A’ – Videsh Lall took 2 for 40 off 8 overs. Enterprise ‘A’ fell short at 223 all out in 36 overs. Mankhad Balkissoon made 49. Bowling for Buxton – Rawlie Fredricks 3 for 30 off 6 overs.
Lusignan ‘A’ defeated Strathaven. Strathaven won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 127 all out off 28 overs. Ganesh Sugrim made 36. Bowling for Lusignan ‘A’ – Prakash Ganpat picked up 2 for 18 off 6 overs.
Lusignan ‘A’ in reply reached – 128 for 2 off 17 overs with Krishna Deosarran – 59 not out with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Bowling for Strathaven – Naresh Persaud took 1 for 22 off 3 overs.
And Plaisance beat Gas XI. Plaisance rattled up 147 all out, while Gas XI fell short at 118 all out.
Meanwhile, the Super League, involving the other placed teams’ o the East Coast is set to get underway this weekend, Sunday October 24.
In the games scheduled: Starting 10:30am Rockaway vs Mon Repos at Rockaway Ground. At 12:00pm Lusignan Development XI vs Marshon at Marshon Ground.
At 1:30 pm LBI ‘B” vs Plaisance at Rockaway Ground, while Buxton ‘B” draw the bye.
At the same times Lusignan ‘A’ vs Enterprise ‘B’ at Enterprise Ground, Ogle vs Gas XI at Ogle Ground and Police vs Golden Grove ‘A’ at Enterprise Ground, while Enmore North draw bye.
Helena #1 & 2 vs Lions XI at Helena Ground, Cane Grove vs Green Field at Cane Grove Ground, Golden Grove ‘B’ vs Clonbrook at Helena Ground, while Dochfour draw bye.
At Calcutta ground, Calcutta vs Dundee, Fair Field vs Beehive at Fair Field and Good Faith vs Airy Hall. Helena Sport Club draw bye.
The round robin competition will see the top two teams from the respective ground advancing to the quarterfinals.
