Preparations for the Fifth annual Namilco Football Festival which is scheduled to kick off
later this month has been given a timely boost by the tournament’s major sponsor National Milling Company of Guyana (NAMILCO).
At a simple presentation ceremony in the company’s Board Room at Agricola East Bank Demerara, a check for an undisclosed sum was presented to Vice President of the Fruta Conquerors Football Club Mr. Ivor Thompson by Mr. Autamaram Lakeram Finance Controller of NAMILCO in the presence of other company representatives.
Thompson on behalf Fruta Conquerors thanked the company for the timely support which will aid in purchasing materials to effect repairs to the two bleacher stands on the Tucville Ground. He stated that infrastructural repairs to the stands is to ensure or another successful tournament. “It is important that spectators are comfortably seated during matches and thus the need for ensuring stands in a suitable condition.”
Mr. Lakeram expressed his company delight in sponsoring such a unique football tournament and stated also that his company is happy for the opportunity to demonstrate their corporate responsibility and support for youths in the Tucville community and the society at large.
Sixteen (16) of Guyana’s top football clubs are expected to take part in this competition, which will have a first place prize of $500,000. All games would be played on the now famous Tucville Ground.
