Bouterse gets royal treatment while children in government’s care can’t get school uniforms

It has come to my attention that the children living at the government Drop-In Center on Hadfield St. in Georgetown, missed the first day of school because their school uniforms were not purchased in time.
This is appalling and all Guyanese should be outraged at this situation.
The government of Guyana is responsible for taking care of these children, using our taxpayer dollars, and there is no excuse for them not providing them with school uniforms in time for the start of the new school year.
The management of the Drop-In Center and officials at the Ministry of Human Services need to be held accountable for this unforgivable lapse.
These children are as full of potential as other, more privileged youth, and deserve to be given all opportunities to develop their abilities.
But it seems like the Guyana government cares more about wining and dining a convicted drug-trafficker, former military dictator, and current murder-trial defendant than making sure that the youth in Guyana receive an education. What a crying shame!
