Football fans in the Mahdia Community will be in for a treat when the 2010 Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport Mahdia Inter-Block Football Competition kicks off today at their Community Centre Ground.
The action gets underway at 18:30hrs with the defending champions Airstrip, led by Captain John Joseph, Stefon Daniels, Harley Joseph, Kewin Hermon & Jomo Beckles coming up against Campbelltown, led by Captain Sherwin Da Silva and Rogan Wilkie.
In the feature event of the double header card, RH Lions oppose Masters with the competent Mendonca leading the Lion’s charge. This game is scheduled to commence at 20:00hrs.
Meanwhile, Mahdia businessman and sports enthusiast, Mr. Roger Hinds has donated cash for the team winning the competition. Prior to the first game, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport, Steve Ninvalle, will officially declare the competition open and give the symbolic kick-off of the ball. All matches will be played under floodlights.
