A popular resident of Anna Catherina on the West Coast of Demerara was found dead on the Public Road early yesterday morning.
Reports are that body of 57-year-old Jasmine Persaud of Anna Catherina Railway Line was found sometime after 04:00 hours.
This newspaper was told that the woman was found partly submerged in a nearby drain.
One of the woman’s daughters, Nicole Persaud told this newspaper that they received the news sometime after 6:00 hours yesterday.
According to Persaud, her mother was an epileptic and would wonder off from time to time from her house. The woman’s daughter told this publication that the last time she saw her mother alive was on Thursday night.
“She does normally deh is she house because she live alone and once she in there you does hear she radio on and I check on she last night (Thursday night).”
The woman added that at no time did she notice her mother leaving the yard.
Meanwhile, according to residents in the area, from all indications the woman may have tripped on a piece of wood and fell into the drain and drowned.
However, relatives said they are awaiting the results of a post mortem examination. They however maintain that they have no reason to suspect foul play since the woman was a very peaceful person.
Shortly after the woman’s remains were removed from the scene, relatives were trying to uplift all of Persaud’s medical records from her clinic.
Investigations are ongoing.
