Digicel’s resolute support for the Horse Racing industry continued yesterday when it added its name to the list of sponsors for this weekend’s Jumbo Jet Auto Sales-organised Guyana Cup Race Meet which is scheduled to be staged at the Rising Sun Turf Club, West Coast Berbice, on Sunday starting from 12:00hrs.
The cell phone giants handed over $430,000 in sponsorship to Co-ordinator of the event Melissa Chattergoon in the presence of assistant co-ordinator Compton Sancho during a simple ceremony held at its Head Office in Kingston.
Making the presentation was Sales Manager Dwayne Scott, who reminded those present of Digicel’s unremitting commitment to the development of sport across this nation.
Scott in his remarks said that since Digicel has added its name to the list of supporters to the sport, it has stood steadfast in its promise to continuously assist most of the Organisers of the sport and the record speaks for itself.
The Company will be sponsoring the G& Lower event which carries total sponsorship inclusive of cash and trophies.
Chattergoon speaking on behalf of the Organisers thanked Digicel for its continued commitment to the sport, adding that they’ve been an invaluable partner in the sport’s progression.
The day’s card will have ten races with the feature being the C & Lower event which will be sponsored by Banks DIH and carries a first prize of $1.2 million for the winner.
A total of $10.5 million in cash and prizes are up for grabs and the Organisers have promised a day of keen and exciting races.
