To host Malteenoes TT Club in Goodwill series tomorrow
A new Table Tennis Club has been formed in the East Berbice area with its headquarters at the Church of the Ascension (Roman Catholic) building situated at Main and Pope Streets New Amsterdam.
Serving as President is Floyd Conway with Tevon Butchie as the Vice President. Johnny Persaud is the Secretary/Treasurer while the Club Captain is Richard Bacchus. Former national and Caribbean queen Desiree Lancaster is doubling up as player/coach.
The club at the moment has over 25 members made up of junior and trainee players.
Training takes place from Monday to Friday with the seniors occupying the tables on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays while the juniors have their time every week Day (Monday-Fridays) from about 15:00hrs to 18:00hrs.
Recently a number of players participated in the veterans tournament sponsored by Commissioner of Police and held in Georgetown with Floyd Conway emerging runner-up in the over 40 category.
The club is preparing to host the Malteenoes Sports Club Table Tennis team for a Goodwill visit tomorrow. The Malteenoes team is expected to include National Under-13 champion Chelsea Edghill.
