‘Mystery death’ cop to be buried today

July 21, 2010 | By | Filed Under News

Assistant Superintendant of Police Ivelaw Murray is to be laid to rest today, 17 days after he was found dead in his Springlands, Corentyne home with two gunshot wounds to the head.
Murray’s father said that relatives have given up their quest to have him accorded a military funeral.
Police Commissioner Henry Greene had reportedly informed the officer’s parents that he would not be accorded the rites of a police officer, and the parents had retained an attorney in an attempt to have this decision reversed.
Relatives said that ASP Murray’s body will be at his parents’ Better Hope, East Coast Demerara home for viewing at 13:00 hrs.
The funeral will be held at the Glory Light Church at Prince William Street, Plaisance.
He will then be laid to rest at the St. John Roman Catholic Burial Ground at Sparendaam.
