Three men who were involved in a fight were all placed on $70,000 bail by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
It was alleged that Rajesh Khalil and Frankie Rahim on June 6, grievously harmed Ramesh Rajkumar. They both pleaded not guilty to the charge. A second charge alleges that Rajkumar unlawfully wounded Ramesh Khalil. He too pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Khalil and Rahim were represented by attorney at law Emily Proctor, who in her bail application said that her clients are both married with children. She said that Rahim was a taxi driver, while Khalil was a mechanic.
Attorney at law Debra Kumar represented the other accused, Rajkumar. According to the lawyer her client is shop vendor. She asked for bail in a reasonable sum, since her client does not pose a flight risk.
Police Prosecutor Stephen Telford did not oppose bail, but told the court that both parties received injuries as a result of a fracas. He said that men were fighting outside the mosque when they were arrested.
The magistrate granted the men bail and ordered them to return to court on July 29.
