- says he still has a lot of work to do to be ready

Guyana’s ‘big bike’ racer, Stephen Vieira has given himself a 50/50 chance of coming out on top when the Caribbean Championship Series continues in Jamaica following the first round here in Guyana last November.
The series will move to Jamaica on May 24 and Vieira, while optimistic that he will do well at the event, was equally cautious about his performance, maintaining that he still has a lot of work to do to be able to take on the Caribbean’s best.
“Preparation is ok. I still have a lot of work to do though. I give myself a 50/50 chance. I heard that the track is very dangerous and there is absolutely no room for mistakes,” the ‘big bikes’ racer told Kaieteur Sport briefly yesterday.
Vieira would be racing a Suzuki GSXR 600 cc 2008 model for the first time in Jamaica and as such, he was clear that he does not know what to expect. He has dominated both the Guyana and Barbados legs of the meet before.
Asked about the readiness of his machine, which should arrive in Jamaica next Friday after Team Guyana lands in Jamaica the previous day, Vieira said that he has had lots of problems but those have since been sorted out.
He credited Maurice Menezes and Gregory Lopes with helping him get the bike mechanically ready for the competition. “We had plenty mechanical problems but those are sorted out now,” Vieira assured his large fan base.
The top local racer believes that the bike is supposed to be one of the best that he has ever ridden based on previous test runs. “I am confident that I will be among the top five with Kevin Graham and Stephon Chin,” he continued with this newspaper.
Vieira took the opportunity to thank Sunburst for their sponsorship, stating that he is very grateful to have the company on board with him for such a great event.
