Members of the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA), as they have done in Berbice and Georgetown, visited the Agricola Warriors Boxing Gym on the East Bank of Demerara last week.
The team headed by its President, Parliamentary Secretary Steve Ninvalle, is also scheduled to visit Timehri, Port Kaituma and Essequibo gyms shortly.
At the Agricola gym, which is run by the country’s lone female boxing coach, Paulette Nurse, Ninvalle gave a pep talk to the young fighters and during that talk stressed the need for discipline.
They were informed of conditions at the gym by Coach Nurse where some deficiencies were pointed out and Ninvalle has promised to offer some amount of assistance.
He told Kaieteur Sport that sometime this week several pieces of boxing gear will be handed over to the Agricola facility.
While at the gym, the executive members were treated to a mini boxing exhibition, one of the bouts involving the talented Moolchan Sankar and Dexter Wray, which was a highly entertaining affair.
Meanwhile, several of the boxers chosen to prepare for the CAC games set for July, will begin those preparations this week and they will be assessed by national coach Wincel Thomas, Terrence Poole and several other coaches during the process.
