Yog Mahadeo, Chief Financial Officer of GT&T and also the secretary of the Private Sector Commission of Guyana, launched another book on Sunday. This time he has written about the life of one Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati.
The launching took place at a function hosted by the West Demerara Central Arya Samaj held at the Vreed-en-Hoop temple.
The function was well attended and included persons from the Arya Samaj movement across the country and some representatives from USA.
Mr Mahadeo was the guest speaker for the occasion. He spoke about the inspirational life of the Saint who is known for his work on social reform and the establishment of the Arya Samaj.
Mr. Mahadeo recounted many events in the Saint’s life that have inspired a number of developments worldwide.
The Saint is known for starting the revolution that led to the later work of Mahatma Gandhi and other for the independence of India.
In addition, according to Mr. Mahadeo, this “remarkable Saint single-handedly fought for the abolishment of the caste system, the liberation of women from social and domestic suppression and the scientific approach to spirituality.”
Mr. Mahadeo spoke of the work done by the Maharishi to explain the sciences of astrology, astronomy, mathematics, spirituality and the entire scope of human development – in terms of physiological, psychological and spiritual evolution of mankind.
At one time during his speech, the crowd was moved to near tears by Mr. Mahadeo as he related the story of the special night of awakening in the life of the young Moolshankar who grew up to become the Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, about whom the book is written.
In writing the book, Mr. Mahadeo expressed how inspired he was of the life and works of the Maharishi.
The book itself is a small but thoroughly researched work. Only 43 pages, the book is written in simple format with clear language. It is actually the third edition of the original that was first published in 1996.
This is an expanded edition that has numerous references to the various works and books written by many persons – including the works of the Maharishi himself. The book starts with the passing of the Maharishi and then goes on to recount events in his life. It also includes a list of the works of the Maharishi.
Speaking of the book, Yog Mahadeo said that he “was delighted to be associated by the inspirational life and work of this Great personality who gave the gift of the Light of Truth to the world.”
In 2009, Yog Mahadeo launched his “Garland of Pearls, Volume 1”. He thanked a number of persons who encouraged this edition. These included Brother Dost and Sister Dolly. He also extended thanks to his brother Dr. Vishwa Mahadeo who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Health Authority of Region Six and a Parliamentarian.
