A prison officer accused of trying to smuggle a number of prohibited items in the Camp Street Prison was placed on $30,000 bail by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
The man, David Wilson, 39, of Lot 105 Section C Golden Grove, is accused of smuggling two cell phones, one lighter and several packs of cigarette into the prison on February 20, last.
His lawyer, Patrice Henry, in a bail application said that he is still reporting daily to the prison.
He said that his client wishes to confront the allegation and he did not pose a flight risk.
The lawyer asked for reasonable bail and an early date for trial.
The prosecution told the court that the items were found in Wilson’s locker at work.
