Dear Editor,
This “dis-ease” of sexual and other forms of abuse (physical, emotional) of our children has reached beyond all imaginary bounds.
Among the accused of these “ungodly” acts are a pandit in the north west, a pastor on the East Coast and West Bank, an imam in Alexander Village, prominent businessmen, union leaders, teachers, priests and bishops worldwide, employees within the presidential office and last but not least, presidential aspirants.
It is therefore apparent that sexual, physical, emotional and other forms of abuse have transcended all strata of society, crossing such barriers as religion, race, and profession, social and financial.
The presumption of innocence must be assured until proven otherwise, but the mere idea that such allegations maybe leveled at certain offices and individuals and in certain cases without serious police involvement, indicate the degree of immorality prevalent and prevailing in this country of ours.
Islam Cares strongly condemns the alleged cases of abuse (sexual and otherwise) of our children and hope that justice will not only be done but must appeared to be done. Bilaal Eusi Nantambu
